Kitchen, 2018 10ft x 6.5ft, Mixed Media

An installation of non-linear narrative self-reflective internal monologue based on a Japanese literature-Kitchen by Yoshimoto Banana in which a young Japanese woman struggles to overcome the death of her grandmother. From her love of kitchens to her job as a culinary teacher’s assistant to the multiple scenes in which food is merely present, Kitchen is a short window into the life of a young woman and her discoveries about food and love amongst a background of tragedy and solitariness.
